If there’s anything Londoners know how to do in style, it’s how to ring in a New Year. Celebrating New Year’s Eve in London is a bucket list activity, but knowing where to stay in the city to make the most of the festivities is the real challenge, so we’ve done the work for you. Shangri-La at The Shard, Southwark

If it’s top-notch views you’re after, you can’t get much better than Shangri-La at The Shard, a mainstay on any list of top hotels to stay at on New Year’s Eve. This swanky hotel is as luxurious as it gets; situated right at the top of The Shard, it promises sweeping city views as far as the eye can see. Even if you’re not staying on the same side as London’s iconic NYE fireworks display, you’re still guaranteed to see fireworks all over the city when midnight strikes. The hotel is also home to the highest hotel infinity pool and hotel bar in Western Europe, so your New Year’s Day can be spent floating up high before heading to the bar for a post-swim tipple.

Marriott County Hall, Westminster

Stay in the beating heart of the city at Marriott County Hall in Westminster. You’ll be located only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, and if you opt to stay in one of the suites that overlook the Thames and the London Eye, you’ll be treated to undisturbed views of the firework display. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in total bliss this year at this iconic hotel, where you can stay in one of the chic 250 bedrooms and dine at one of the six on-site restaurants, which includes a range of cuisines, from Californian and Asian-Pacific to American comfort and Italian. When you’re not busy feasting away, check out the hotel’s luxurious spa, where you’ll get to indulge in various treatments, like a traditional Moroccan hammam. They also usually throw a big New Year’s Eve celebration at The Ned. Previous events have included a 1970s-inspired disco, including live music, free-flowing drinks and an all-you-can-eat feast.

Sea Containers London, Bankside

Sea Containers London is undoubtedly one of the best hotels to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the city. Not only is the hotel beautifully designed, but it’s also throwing a one-off New Year’s Eve celebration at their rooftop bar, 12th Knot. The space houses a glass box structure and outdoor terrace, which boasts wraparound views over London, ideal for catching the midnight firework displays. The celebration tends to sell out fast, but there’s a waiting list you can get added to, which will flag when any spots become available.

The Dorchester London, Westminster

The Dorchester London is a five-star establishment in the heart of the city with a remarkable history dating back many years. It’s home to three incredible restaurants, floral displays by Designer Florist Philip Hammond and 115 rooms with unparalleled views of Hyde Park. They also know how to throw a New Year’s Eve bash like no other. Last year’s celebration included a sophisticated masquerade ball where guests were treated to a gala dinner followed by an epic after party at the hotel, where you could indulge in delicious food and drinks, live music and entertainment, followed by dancing into the early hours of the new year. They’re yet to announce what this year’s event is going to be, but what we do know, is that it’ll be one for the books.

The Boundary, Shoreditch

Welcome in the new year at The Boundary on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, a boutique hotel with 17 individually designed rooms. It’s a design-lovers haven, where every minute detail has been carefully considered, from hanging plants and unique artwork to spacious bedrooms with different aesthetics prominent throughout each one.
